Accepting employment applications for 2024-2025!

Windsong is a non-profit independent school in Spokane, Washington. Our faculty-led school shares beliefs that guide us in our work: a willingness to strive and develop, to work out of what we know about child development and Anthroposophy, to teach creatively and with love, and to nurture our parent community. We have a strong in-house mentoring program. New Windsong faculty and staff will join a fun-loving, hardworking, and sincere faculty, will be supported by a friendly and efficient administrative team, and will lead a passionate and engaged parent body.

For the 2024-2025 school year, Windsong is pleased to offer a robust Parent-Child program, a thriving Early Childhood program, and an expanding Grades program that includes grades 1-8 as well as six specialty subjects. We have approximately 175 students currently enrolled.

Our school is located above the scenic Spokane River on the historic Mukogawa US 76-acre campus, woven through with antique walkways and quiet tree-lined streets. We enjoy trail access to the Spokane River and abundant nature opportunities. Our campus is only 5 minutes from downtown Spokane.

Points to consider before applying to Windsong School:

Waldorf education rests on the tenets of Anthroposophy, a spiritualized philosophy that informs our outlook on the human experience. Our educational practices rest on the observations and insights of Waldorf educators who use Anthroposophy as a framework, along with mainstream research on effective educational practices and child development. Windsong School’s Early Childhood Program is a Full Member of Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (WECAN).

Windsong School has experienced extraordinary growth since its founding almost 13 years ago. Our workspace and campus are unconventionally laid out. This situation leads to opportunities for familiarity, much student and staff interaction and requires a high degree of cultivated and committed camaraderie from all staff members. The benefits are manifold, but those who do not possess strong interpersonal skills may find themselves unable to enjoy the busy atmosphere.

Our mission to make Waldorf education accessible to all and the rapid school growth we’ve seen over the past years have cultivated an environment of financial prudence. A degree of resourcefulness and an ability to use simplicity as a tool will be required.

Waldorf grade teachers loop with their students, meaning that ideally, teachers will stay with their class from 1st through 8th grade.

For lead positions, two weeks of scheduled commitments are required during the summer holiday. Significant preparation in the summer is necessary in the form of a one-week professional development class that requires out-of-town travel, classroom arrangements, extensive study and personal skills practice, and materials preparation.
